Oh the Plants

As someone who is not all that familiar with botany and lacks a certain luster for poetry, I found this particular piece a bit daunting. There were more footnotes than poetry which was a bit of a turnoff and took much persistence to finish each read. During my first read through of the poem it was clearly visible that there was an intimate passion present from the writer because of how intricate each description was. I, myself, had to do a little extra research of the poem and some of the plants the second time around to understand what about this poem was so appealing.

  1. I agree that the footnotes were really annoying. I think they could have their own book all together. It took me forever to read this due to how long the footnotes were.
