Lyrical Ballads
Published in 1798 by Bristol by Joseph Cottle. It was also sold to John and Arthur Arch of London and republished by them.
It was published anonymously.
It contained four of Coleridge’s poems.
This edition sold out in two years.

Wordsworth believed poetry did not have to be comprised of elevated subjects. He thought poetry could be about ordinary people and their ordinary lives. Wordsworth said poetry is not a person observing from a distance, but a “a man speaking to a man”.
