Nothing in this post will say anything that the other posts haven't already said. I found the preface to be long, convoluted, and irritating. It took him a page and a half to answer one question! However, I can understand why he wrote it. And reading this isn't going to turn me off of reading anything of Wordsworth again (meaning poems). Desdemona was right in my opinion, poetry should speak for itself. However, I don't think any writer in this time period would just let their work of art stand by itself without explaining it. I mean to say that prefaces seem to be common for this time period.
