"I once was happy, when while yet a child,/ I learn'd to love these upland solitudes," but then she says "And evil unforeseen: Early it came,/ And childhood scarcely passed, I compar'd/ With the polluted smoky atmosphere/ And dark and stifling streets...".
This seems like what she was trying to say is that she was happy around such beauty in the town she lived in. but was no longer happy in London.
When you add the fact that she ends up in a loveless abusive marriage that ended up putting in and her children in debtors prison with her husband...yeah, moving to London was a bad life event for her lol
