The Mystical Firefly

Smith jammed a loot of good stuff in Firefly, but at present I can't decipher it all on my own. Here's a case where the notes at the bottom were very helpful because without them I probably wouldn't have even gotten what meaning I did out of the poem. In a nutshell, it's all about slavery in Jamaica and what those slaves go through on a daily basis. The poem is beautifully written and, personally, I'm not so concerned with what a poem means to the poet because it can mean something completely different to the reader and I think that's the best part: different perspectives and interpretations.
